IN CONCLUSION, a second division nerve block does not provide pulpal anesthesia for the central incisor, lateral incisor, canine, or first premolar. The blocks are effective for pulpal anesthesia of the molars. Because of the success rate of the infiltration over the molars (see section on maxillary infiltration), the second division nerve block is not advocated for routine restorative procedures.
